Copy and paste special elements or text content

For copy complete document section in Tangelo you can use the copy/cut & paste submenu option in the Tangelo document table of contents - see the section 'Moving things around'.

However, something you want to move text content to different hierarchy levels (section/chapter/paragraph) or even document types for which the Tangelo copy & paste menu option is not suitable.

Depending on your purpose you can use the following approaches:

  1. the whole section content
  2. specific special elements such as tables, highlight or KPI blocks, etc.

1. the whole section content

  • Create the new section(s) where the content needs to be moved to:
  • open the section in the Tangelo editor and select the content that needs to be moved
  • Important: perform the copy/paste action per main element (title/subtitle/introduction/text if available). To select the entire element precisely and smoothly, click on the element name at the bottom, see (3) Introduction below as example
  • Then press CTRL-C (copy)
  • Go to the new section, click on an empty line (not in TITLE!) and press CTRL-V (paste)
  • Repeat steps 2-4 above for text and any other elements

2. specific special elements

However, sometimes you want to copy a specific component and all its included text (such as tables, highlight blocks, KPI blocks, etc.) in the Tangelo editor.

In such cases, you can follow these steps to copy and paste this element in one go:

  1. Go to the content you want to copy
  2. Click on the element (in this case, a table) you want to copy - see mark (1) in the screenshot below.
  3. Click the element name in the navigation path below - see mark (2). The element will turn yellow.

  4. Press CTRL-C on your keyboard.
  5. Go to to document and section where the content needs to be copied to.
  6. Place the cursor on the position where the content needs to be copied.
  7. First, create a new empty special element of the same kind:
  8. Place the cursor in the newly created empty element and click the element name in the navigation path below (same as step 2 above).
  9. Press CTRL-V and the special element content will be visible.
  10. After checking the content is correct, you can go back to the original content, select the element and remove it using the 'Remove' option in the navigation path:
