Introduction
Use this article when preparing a document iXBRL reporting. Before you start tagging facts, assigning properties, or entering company-specific reporting information, you must select the correct taxonomy for the document.
Summary
After following these steps, the document is linked to the appropriate taxonomy. The taxonomy determines which concepts, properties, validations, and reporting requirements are available during the tagging process.
Steps
Add XBRL General Data
- Open the document.
- Navigate to Insert > XBRL.
- Select XBRL General Data.
An XBRL General Data section is added to the top of the document. This section contains the company and filing information required for XBRL reporting.
Select the taxonomy
- Open the XBRL General Data section.
- Click the Properties icon.
- Locate the Taxonomy property in the properties panel.
- Click Add next to the property.
- Select the appropriate taxonomy from the available list.
- Save the changes.
The available options depend on the taxonomies installed in your Tangelo environment.
Complete the taxonomy-specific information
After selecting a taxonomy, additional fields may appear in the XBRL General Data section.
These fields contain taxonomy-specific information that is required for the selected filing framework. Complete all required fields before proceeding with the tagging process.
Expected Result
The selected taxonomy is assigned to the document and the corresponding taxonomy-specific fields become available within the XBRL General Data section.
The taxonomy browser, validation rules, concepts, and available XBRL properties will now be based on the selected taxonomy.
Remarks
- The selected taxonomy determines which concepts and validation rules are available during tagging.
- Additional required fields may appear after selecting a taxonomy.
- The taxonomy can be changed later if necessary, although changes may affect existing tagging and XBRL configuration.
