Introduction
Use this article when you want to validate and review your iXBRL filing package in Tangelo. After the required iXBRL settings and tags have been configured, you can run the export, review validation messages, preview the result, and download the final filing package.
Summary
After following these steps, you can generate a draft iXBRL package, review errors and warnings, inspect tagged values in the preview, and download the final .xbri file for submission.
Steps
- Open the document.
- Open the hamburger menu.
- Select XBRL.
- Start the conversion by clicking on the play button.
- Wait until the conversion is complete.
After the conversion is complete, three options become available:
Review the error report (1)
Open the Error report to review validation messages for the filing.
Common causes of errors include:
- Required properties that are missing or incorrectly configured, such as reporting periods or containers.
- Subtotals that do not match the individual tagged items.
- Validation anomalies, such as a negative value for a concept that is normally expected to be positive.
Review the messages and update the document where needed before running the conversion again.
More information on understanding the error report can be found in this article: Understanding the XBRL validation report
Preview the iXBRL output in the inline viewer(2)
Open the Preview to inspect the generated result.
In the preview, you can click on values to inspect their tagging. Use Highlight to check whether labels have been applied:
- Green cells indicate standard taxonomy labels.
- Pink cells indicate customer-specific extension concepts.
The preview is intended for a quick review only. Formal audit or filing review should always be done using the actual iXBRL result file.
More information on the inline viewer can be found in this article: Understanding the inline viewer
Download the iXBRL result (3)
Use the download button to download the final .xbri file.
The .xbri file contains the report, additional metadata, and the company-specific taxonomy. This is the package that should be submitted to the relevant authority.
Do not rename the file. The filename must follow the required naming scheme.
Remarks
- Tangelo only exports the final .xbri package. It does not export a separate file containing all tagging for easy viewing.
- If tagging needs to be reviewed outside Tangelo, import the .xbri file into external inspection software.
