Introduction
Use this article when you are new to Tangelo and want a quick overview of the main screen and the core actions. It shows you how to find, open, build, and export a document. For more detail on any topic, see the other articles in the Help Center.
Summary
After reading this article, you can navigate the main screen, open a document, add and move tree items, remove and edit them, and create a PDF.
The main screen
After you log in, the main screen appears.
The main screen shows your recent documents, the available document types, and tabs with options. The tabs you see depend on your role. A new user has no recent documents yet.
- Recently viewed by you shows the documents you opened before, across all document types. The list changes as you open documents.
- All documents shows the available document types. A document type is a branded document type that holds the layout for all documents of that type. For example, the Annual Report type holds all documents with the annual report branding.
The hamburger menu behind a document name shows the actions you can take, based on your user rights.
Click a document to open it, or click a document type icon and select your document there. After you select a document type, Tangelo shows a list of documents.
Click a document to open it, or use the hamburger menu for other options.
Open a document
Click the document, or select Edit in the hamburger menu. Tangelo shows the document tree with all sections, chapters, and paragraphs. Sometimes the tree is collapsed.
Click the logo in front of the document title to open the tree. Use CTRL+click to open the full tree and see all sections, chapters, and paragraphs.
Double-click the title of a section to open the Tangelo editor.
The hamburger menu has more options for each section.
Add a section, chapter, paragraph, or subparagraph
- Open the hamburger menu on the item where you want to add.
- Open the Add menu. The options depend on your position in the tree.
- Select the item to add.
Tangelo uses a hierarchy: a paragraph always sits inside a chapter, and a subparagraph inside a paragraph. In the example above you can add a chapter to a section, but not a paragraph. You can also add a section before or after the current section.
Move an item
- Open the hamburger menu on the item you want to move.
- Open the Move menu.
- Move the item one place up or one place down.
Tangelo uses a hierarchy of levels, so you cannot move a paragraph to the same level as a chapter. You can cut, copy, and paste items, but only at the same level, because the level sets the design.
Remove an item
- Open the hamburger menu on the item you want to remove.
- Select Delete.
Edit an item
Double-click a node in the tree to edit that section, chapter, or paragraph.
Create a PDF of a document
Select Create PDF from the document options. A window opens to generate a full PDF without editing the document.
- Set any options you need. For example, if the document has more than one version, the Show changes menu lets you compare versions in the PDF.
Click the PDF button. Tangelo generates the full PDF.
- To create a print-ready version, select the Print option at Format.
