Use the Replace image function to update an existing image in Tangelo without changing the image references inside documents. This is the fastest and recommended way to update visuals that are already used in reports, page inserts, websites, or templates.
Instead of uploading a new image and manually replacing it throughout your documents, you can replace the existing image directly in the image library. All documents that use the image will automatically display the updated version.
You can replace the base image or individual renditions such as PDF or website versions.
Summary
After replacing the image, all documents that use the image automatically show the updated version without requiring changes in the editor.
Steps
- Open the Images view in Tangelo.
- Open the image you want to update.
- Locate the rendition you want to replace:
- Base image
- PDF - print quality
- PDF - download quality
- Website renditions
- Click Replace image next to the rendition.
- Select the new file.
- Save the image if required.
Expected Result
The selected rendition is replaced while keeping the existing image reference in all connected documents.
Remarks
- Replacing an image is more efficient than uploading a completely new image and manually replacing it in documents.
- Existing documents automatically use the updated image after replacement.
- Replacing the base image also regenerates the iXBRL rendition automatically.
- Individual renditions can be replaced separately without affecting other renditions.
- This workflow is recommended for updating recurring visuals, corrected figures, revised branding, or updated designed pages.
- Use a new image upload only when you want to keep both the old and new versions available as separate images in the image library.
