Using the history view in the editor

Use the History View to review changes made to a document over time. The History View provides insight into what was changed, who made the change, and when the change was made.

This functionality is useful when reviewing updates, tracking contributions from different users, comparing document versions, or investigating when specific content was modified.

The History View is available to users with appropriate permissions, including reviewers.

Summary

The History View allows you to compare document changes across a selected period and review detailed information about modifications and revisions.

Steps

  1. Open the document in the editor.
  2. Click the History View icon next to the save icon in the editor toolbar.
  3. Select the comparison criteria.
  4. Choose the period you want to review:
    • Last visit
    • Last 7 days
    • Milestone
    • Custom date and time
  5. Optionally configure a custom comparison period.
    • Select a start date and time.
    • Select an end date and time.
    • Select milestones if required.
  6. Click Apply.
  7. Review the document structure on the left side of the screen.
  8. Identify sections marked with blue dots.
    • Blue dots indicate sections where changes have been made during the selected period.
  9. Select a section to view the detailed changes.
  10. Review the change overview on the right side.
    • What was changed
    • Who made the change
    • When the change was made
  11. Open the Revisions tab if you want to review available revisions.
  12. Use the menu (...) next to a revision to use that revision as a comparison point.
  13. Optionally use the additional options available through the menu (...) in the document outline.
  14. Close the History View when finished.

Expected Result

You can identify which sections have changed, review detailed modification history, and compare content between selected dates, milestones, or revisions.

Remarks

  • The History View shows changes across the selected comparison period.
  • Blue dots in the document outline indicate sections that contain changes.
  • The change overview displays who made a change and when it occurred.
  • Milestones can be used as comparison points when reviewing document progress.
  • The Revisions tab provides access to available document revisions.
