Write and format text in the editor

The Tangelo editor is where you create and maintain the content of your document. Documents in Tangelo are structured into sections, and each section can contain text, tables, images, charts, and other content elements.

To start editing, open a section by clicking it in the document structure or by selecting Open from the section's dropdown menu.

Besides entering text, the editor also provides standard formatting options through the Start menu, including bold, italic, underline, text styles, and other common formatting tools. Additional content elements such as images, tables, lists, and footnotes can be inserted through the Insert menu.

Summary

After completing these steps, you can open a section, enter text, and apply basic formatting in the editor.

Steps

  1. Open the required section.
    • Click the section in the document structure.
    • Or select Open from the section's dropdown menu.
  2. If the section is new and empty, a default title is displayed.
    • New Chapter for chapter-level sections.
    • New Paragraph for paragraph-level sections.
  3. Replace the default title with the desired title for that part of the document.
  4. Move the cursor into the content area below the title.
    • Click inside the white content area below the title.
    • Or press Enter while the cursor is still in the title field.
  5. Verify the content structure shown at the bottom of the editor:
    • Section > Text > Paragraph
  6. Start entering content.
    • Type directly into the editor.
    • Or paste content using Ctrl + V.
  7. Optionally apply formatting using the Start menu.
    • Bold
    • Italic
    • Underline
    • Text styles
    • Other available formatting options
  8. Continue editing the content as required.

Expected Result

The content is added to the selected section and becomes part of the document structure.

Remarks

  • Each section can contain one or more paragraphs and other content elements.
  • Tangelo works with sections rather than fixed pages. The final page layout is determined when generating an output such as a PDF.
  • Pasting content from Word or other applications may require additional formatting adjustments.
  • The structure indicator at the bottom of the editor helps identify where content is being added within the document hierarchy.
  • Changes are automatically saved using the auto-save functionality. Manual saving is normally not required.

Next Steps

Separate articles explain how to format text in more detail and how to work with additional content elements such as lists, footnotes, images, tables, and other items available through the Start and Insert menus.
