Understanding automatic saving behaviour

Tangelo automatically saves changes while you are working in the editor. This means you do not need to manually save every modification before continuing your work.

The editor continuously saves changes in the background. You can monitor the save status using the save indicator in the top-left corner of the editor, directly below the Tangelo logo.

Understanding how automatic saving works is important, especially when using Undo functionality or when restoring previous revisions.

Summary

Changes made in the editor are automatically saved within a few seconds. Undo actions are only available while the editor session remains open.

Overview

Automatic Saving

When you make a change in the editor, Tangelo automatically saves the modification in the background.

You can verify that the change has been saved by checking the save indicator below the Tangelo logo.

Typical behaviour:

  1. Make a change in the editor.
  2. Wait a few seconds.
  3. A checkmark appears on the save icon.
  4. The change is now saved.

No additional action is required.

Undo Recent Changes

While the editor is open, you can undo recent changes.

Available methods:

  • Click Undo your previous action in the editor toolbar.
  • Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Z.

This allows you to reverse recent edits, even if the change has already been automatically saved.

What Happens When the Editor Is Closed?

The Undo history is only available during the current editing session.

Once you close the editor:

  • The Undo history is cleared.
  • Ctrl + Z can no longer restore previous editing actions.
  • Recent changes remain saved.

If you later decide to revert changes, you must use a different approach.

Restoring a Previous Revision

If a previous version of the content is needed after the editor has been closed, you may be able to restore an earlier revision of the section.

Keep in mind that restoring a revision:

  • Reverts the entire section to the selected revision.
  • Removes all changes made after that revision was created.
  • Does not allow individual edits to be selectively undone.

The amount of work that is lost depends on when the last revision was created and when the editor session was closed.

Expected Result

Changes are automatically saved while editing, and the save indicator confirms when the latest changes have been stored successfully.

Remarks

  • Manual saving is generally not required while working in the editor.
  • The save indicator provides confirmation that changes have been stored.
  • Undo actions are only available while the current editor session remains open.
  • Closing the editor clears the Undo history.
  • Restoring a revision affects the entire section and may remove multiple changes at once.
  • For important milestones, consider creating or retaining revisions before making major content changes.
